But before I start about ‘Lonesome Jim’, I have to give an honorable mention to the short film that was shown before the main feature: ‘The Boy Who Was Dubbed’ - a very smart, interesting and funny story.

Another one of my favorite actors, Steve Buscemi directs this movie. That was enough for me to check out this movie. Small-time always meta-depressed loser goes back to the last place he’d ever want to return to: his parents. He reluctantly gets involved in his family’s lives and vice versa. Then he meets a single mom with a more realistic and positive look on things.
Plot-wise: liked the characters a lot - the loser never gets too much under my skin. The ever-cheery mother of our hero showing some depth at the end of the story wasn’t too much of a surprise, but still was nice. Hey, and anyone who can make Liv Tyler seem more like an actress then just a pretty face, is doing some good stuff! Even though the ending the ending was a bit predictable, it didn’t offend my pompous tastes..
But the most important thing was the style of dialogue: brutally funny and fun brutality. Almost forgot about Uncle Evil.. Heheh..

Conclusion: got what expected and a little bit more - happy puppy, that’s me!
