IFFR 2006 - “Shanghai Dreams”
|
Nice little story about adolescent love and rebellion, living with the consequences of choices made in the past and very bad dancing. No seriously, eighties China didn’t know how to dance on pop music..
Plot-wise: the teenage stuff disobeying the frustrated parents is done okay, the inevitable outcome of this clash is also done nicely. The reaction to unrequited love is a bit of the top, but adds to the overall drama at the ending of the film. The closing scenes were very well done.
Conclusion: nice movie
