Movie: Cold Fish (Sono Sion, Japan, 2010, 146 min.)
Date: Feb 4, 2011
(holy sweet mother of bicycle!! Laughed my arse off, sorry, other people i/t audience Bloody sick+funny!)
Plot: Ehm, where to begin? A very unhappy family situation: husband and wife own a tropical fish store, quite boring and unsatisfied. The annoying little brat of a daughter gets caught for shop-lifting, a nice man helps out to prevent the girl from getting arrested. The man has his own tropical fish store and offers to help the family in many different ways..
Cast: Nice, nothing special. Honorable mention: Asuka Kurosawa for making me scared of weird women forever and ever.
Visuals: Bloody, creepy, scary. The scenes in the cabin were especially.. ehm.. interesting?
Conclusion: I wasn’t sure I’d wanted to see a Japanese horror movie lasting more than two and a half hours. But I was wrong. So very wrong. Time just flew by and during the second half of the movie I just kept laughing my arse off. The many bizarre situations and comedic scenes kept me rocking in my chair constantly.
You know when you’re in a movie theater and there’s this one guy laughing too loud? Annoying, isn’t it? Well this time I was one of those loud people. Sorry couldn’t help it: the movie was just too funny!
My favorite scene: dad character, now transformed by events, wants some quiet and private time with his wife but his bratty daughter’s being a bit of a nuisance. Knocking out the kid with one blow was priceless! And before you judge me: yes, it’s not nice to enjoy these things, but if you go see the movie you’ll agree with me that the dad was being too kind.. The daughter was the scariest thing in the movie.
Great and entertaining movie, nice surprise!
