IFFR 2006 - “Bubble”
|
After some very flashy action type of movies, director Steven Soderbergh takes it a notch down by making this very laidback film, Bubble. This movie’s getting a lot of attention from the media, but not mostly for its content, but they way it’s being marketed: the movie release in cinemas coincides with the DVD and also TV release.
Plot-wise: Calm and sober plot about some co-workers living in Nowheresville, USA. Complications arise of course, but at a very slow pace. The plot seems to be just a vehicle for the movie to show the characters and their background.
Conclusion: a welcome change to the Ocean’s Eleven type of stuff Soderbergh has been making and a very, very interesting movie even though not a bloody lot is really happening.
