Browsing The Web..

I came across BBC News’ excellent photo reportage of a part of the world I never knew existed: the African communities that have been living in India for hundreds of years.. Very interesting, you take in the info and go: “Silly me, of course!”. But you never ever thought of it - nice discovery.

Another thing I came across on the Web (thru the great and x-salted One, called Warren Ellis).

A first for me: American Network TV attacking G-Dubya for all his failures and general lack of brain juice. First we saw Horny Bill Clinton chewing a piece off of Fox Networks TV a coupla days ago. And now we get a ten minute editorial that tears Bush a new hole, wow..
Thing is: it’s the mirror image of what Fox does - a very biased rant about the stupidity and incompetence of the current president and all groveling praise for the former president. There’s no difference, but networks are lacking of any real balanced journalism and integrity.
Reactions on the Web of the pro-Bush boyz-n-girlz are scathing and the weird thing is: they accuse MSNBC of the foul deeds that they praise Fox Networks for when that network attacks the liberals. Funny, funny yet silly, silly rabbits..

This Week (14-Sep-2004)

Okay, so this week I’ve started this weblog and let’s see how long I’ll be working this medium.
This week I’ll be going to the fare-thee-well concert of one of the greatest bands in the world, Hasjee Royaal. These guys know how to rock a party and throw a good concert! Their funky music will make you shake for joy and jump your moneymaker!! After 15 years of live performances, albums, easy money and loose women they’ve decided to call it quits. So I’ll be over at the Prinsestheater this Thursday evening for a grand finale that’d make The Last Waltz look like a tea-and-biscuits session at the in-laws.

What else? Well… We’re all happy to hear that Bill Clinton’s recovering and up on his feet again. The quadruple by-pass has done its work and Mr.Clinton will be rejoining the Democrats’ efforts to win the presidential election. Not for himself of course, but it almost seems like it. Funny how, when time passes, people tend to forget the negative and emphasize the positive. It gets close to deification when someone’s in the hospital for heart surgery.

What else? Well.. Just read an article stating that the lovely sun-drenched land of the capoeira, carnaval and caipirinha, Brazil (if you’re still guessing), has become the world capital for computer hackers. Maybe I got my priorities all mixed up, but in a country that has so much extremes in a social, economic and general context, why bother? Why bother with hacking while you got so many other things to keep you busy? I’m not commenting on hackers and such, I just can’t fit the image of a computer hacker with my generalized view of the Land of Samba, Football (soccer for the US, sigh..) and The Mighty Thong. Oh well..

What else? Well.. This little country’s in a state of shock! Why? Did the people revolt, kick out the royal family and switch to a republic?
Did they invade Belgium coz the chocolate’s waaaay better? Did the prime minister give a press conference to admit his fetish for wearing
garters? Nope.. The third Tuesday of September’s the tradional day on which the government presents its financial plans for the coming
year. The queen sits in a big-ass chair and reads out the plans to both houses of parliament and other representatives. But.. the plans were
leaked and now everybody already knows what the plans are gonna be.. Wow..
