This Week (18-Nov-2005)
This week.. It’s been a while that I did this little column thingy.. One news item really prompted me to write a bit about it..
What else? Well… Okay over in Holland we’re all seriously outraged and disgusted about.. Come on, guess, of what?
Nope..
We’re all in shock about the killing of one bird. Yes, I’m serious: the organizers of the silly “how many dominoes can we set up to make a chain reaction of falling stones, while making this country important in the eyes of the rest of civilization and enjoying ourselves too” event of the year were in panic.
They were so stressed about a bird who’d already knocked over 23 thousand stones that they decided to hire an exterminator to kill off the birdy. Now why hadn’t Sylvester[tm] thought of that? Tweety[tm] would’ve been in the oven in ten minutes flat..
Don’t get me wrong: it’s a sad thing to occur and I sure as hell don’t condone the senseless killing of animals (or humans, come to think of it). But.. the public outrage?
This year a nice little earthquake has left quite a bunch of people homeless in an area where shelter isn’t a commodity, but a life protecting necessity. We hold the telethon to give money for those in need and what happens? We give crapola compared to what we gave when the tsunami hit last year. Analysts explain this one due to the fact that:
Ok, I might be ranting a bit, but it’s really is a shame we didn’t give more money. What is an even bigger shame is the fact that nobody reported or reacted to that fact.
What really makes me wanna cancel my membership of the human race is the fact that more people are outraged about the killing of a bird.
Those who really care about what happened, fine, respect.. Those who are just joining the emotional bandwagon, get off the wagon, go to the animal shelter and buy one of those mistreated animals they have there and don’t you dare bring it back after two weeks because of the inconvenience..
What else? Well.. Word of the week: discombobulated
What else? Well.. I got bored again, so I googled this up for ya: Coke Bottle Collections
So the track “Frozen” is banned in Belgium? Wow..
