How I Got Into This Music
It’s a reload, why? Well.. When I first listened to some of the tracks I kinda got bored. An excellent musician, but it didn’t work for me.
Or so I thought, coz after a while I realised I had the guy’s voice and songs in my head (without the mp3 player). So I thought I’d better listen to the album a second time.
Tracks that got my attention:

Keep It Loose, Keep It Tight
The intro’s like the most lazy morning sunrise ever.. Love it, the voice is incredible.

Seen It All Before
Now this is typical of what my problem is with this album: there’s totally nothing wrong with this track, but it just doesn’t do anything for me..

Arms Of A Woman
Nope, an incredible voice, a soft and tender song, but unbelievably unimpressive

Give It Up
Feelgood song, great vocal arrangements!

Soul Suckers
Too showy, too “delicate song” stuff and not delivering the goods

Bottom Of The Barrel
Ugh! Sometimes this one’s a great pick-me-upper, but most of the time..

Black River
Works fine!

Love In The Lies
Ooooohhh. This guy’s voice is a gem, great track!

All My Friends
Great closer

Conclusion
So.. was I wrong about discarding this album the first time? Yes.. and no.. The good songs are great, the bad songs are almost mind-numbingly boring and annoying.
Don’t get me wrong: this is one hell of an artist - singer/songwriter - and I’m guessing his live performance’ll be fine too.. But the choice of tracks is too conflicting for my taste and it kinda disturbs the mood.. This album’ll work perfectly for the mellow 30-somethings..
I will be anxious to hear the next album.
