Movie: It Looks Pretty from a Distance (Anka Sasnal and Wilhelm Sasnal, Poland, 2011, 77 min.) imdb link

Date: Jan 30, 2012

Rating: ★★★½☆
(ehm.. wah? Fascinatingly weird and (un)eventful movie)

Plot: In a small village in Poland the locals live a very mediocre and cut-throat life. After dumping his mom in a care facility of sorts, one villager disappears and the village takes over his house.

Cast: Nothing special

Visuals: Some disturbing dreamy scenes, but maybe I was dozing off..

Conclusion: This movie is really fascinating: you don’t get a good grip on the story, you don’t connect with the characters, but it still kept me wanting to know how things develop. Why? I don’t know, just fascinated by the mediocre, uneventful drudgery of it all, mixed with some intense and almost useless aggressive moments. Weird..

More IFFR 2012..

ehm.. wah?
