IFFR 2010 – Tetro
Movie: Tetro (Francis Ford Coppola, 2009, USA, Italy, Spain, Argentina, 127 min. ) ![]()

(Mister Coppola does it again..)
Plot: an 18 yr-old runs away from home to join his long lost brother, who’s living in Argentina. The reunion does not go well.
Cast: like I read somewhere, the main character’s a carbon copy of a young DiCaprio but that isn’t a problem; he’s a talented and interesting presence. Tetro actor Vincent Gallo also gives a strong performance and I’m officially in love with Maribel Verdú ![]()
Visuals: WOW WOW! WOW!!
Black and White photography has never looked this good in many many years! It’s a lot of visual eyecandy with strong almost classic imagery mixed with some sanitized absurdisms.
Conclusion: go see this film in a theater; your 50inch screen still isn’t big enough to truly enjoy this cinematic experience! The story’s reasonably straightforward, sometimes clichéd but it kept on going nicely.
Did Coppola make a great movie? Hellyeah!!
