IFFR 2009 – Bronson
Movie: Bronson (Nicolas Winding Refn, UK, 2008, 92′) ![]()
Date: Jan 21, 2009
Rating:

(Tom Hardy rules this movie!)
Plot: Based on a true story, we dive in to the history and the mind of a man who’s been in jail for more than 30 years, a large part of that in solitary confinement. He changes his name to the Hollywood giant Charles Bronson, hence the title.
Cast: I kept wondering who the hell Tom Hardy is and then I found the link: Guy Richie’s RocknRolla movie.
This guy does an incredible job portraying a very disturbed individual and sociopath; facial gestures, grunts, silly walks and body bulk, he does it all. Great work.
Visuals: Liked the general set up, loved some scenes. Especially the one in the recreation room was visual heaven. But a lot of scenes did seem a bit too easy “borrowing” from other flicks like Clockwork Orange and other Kubrick stuff.
Conclusion: Coming out of the theater I rated it a 2.5/5; this morning in writing this, I’m more generous, because the over-all effort and effect was quite good, from the director who made the Pusher Trilogy.
Tom Hardy is an actor who scares the pants off of you (5/5).

Where did this guy, Tom Hardy, come from? i love it when actors find their break out roles like he did with Bronson
Well, looking at his movie history at imdb.com, he has been around for a coupla years and played in a few big movies too..
I hope he keeps on grabbing my attention with his performances
