RIP: George Carlin - Damn, that guy’s funny..

Most people in North America know this guy for being one of the greatest comedians of all time.
What I liked about his work: he challenged you to use your own mind, test your thoughts and question your opinions and most of all, he wanted you to take a hard and focused look at Authority. Just by using words and logic.
If I had kids, they’d be put in front of a screen to watch Carlin. And I’d be satisfied only when they had the guts to turn off the screen to challenge my authority and use logical arguments while doing so..

Thank you, George.

Fuck Youtube.

Here’s a couple of great quotes:

  • The very existence of flamethrowers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, “You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I’m just not close enough to get the job done.”
  • Well, if crime fighters fight crime and fire fighters fight fire, what do freedom fighters fight? They never mention that part to us, do they?
  • I don`t have pet peeves, I have major psychotic fucking hatreds!

Can’t agree with you more. As a kid growing up my mother always spoke about Carlin with reverence. He said the things that most people were not fearless enough to say. I loved his delivery. Like the odd but wise uncle who was educating you in his own way. The one who you would hang out with during family events, who saw through all the bulls***, spiked the punch, and burned one down in the bushes. RIP Carlin.

yeah, at first he’d seem like the stereotypical grumpy old man, but within a coupla seconds you’d be kicked in the Unmentionables to help you realize your mistake ;)

Never heard of the guy untill Adam Curry talked about his death on Arrow Classic Rock. He broadcasted some minutes of one of his shows. Very sharp and reflecting. Thanks for the clips you’ve put on yr blog.

Never heard about the guy, until I read your comments. Just viewd some of his stuff, very insightful, sharp, witty and funny.
At least he’s being joined by that Jesse Helms character - gives him something to take the mickey out off.

  6. frenchy Says:

Yeah, I know for sure that if Carlin meets up with Helms, neither heaven or hell can contain the fallout.. Thing is, there’d be a line forming behind Carlin with other people waiting their turn to take care of the crapmonkey politician..
There really is justice in the afterlife ;)
