Dutch Impressions: Experiencing The Netherlands - past, present and beyond.. (since December 1979)
Now most people (if any) who read my stuff know that I’m not the type to go all wild about silly things like a football match, even when played by the Dutch team.
But yesterday was one of those exceptions to the rule: an enjoyable evening spent with quite some enthousiastic people in a tent watching the game against France for the European Cup. The match itself took me to new levels of nervous suspence combined with a lot of joy.
Still doesn’t make me Dutch, but I do enjoy the Dutch enjoying themselves in this way: totally unreserved euphoria.
