(Animation at its Finest)
Plot: A collection of short stories nibbling at our ear, whispering stuff that makes us cower in fear: mortality, violence, insect world domination and the collected thoughts of the middle-mediocrity.
(I’m in that kind of mood, do forgive me..)
Cast: Skippable.
Visuals: Wow.. I can spend the next ten minutes describing the visuals, using all kinds of technical and cultural references from expert books on the subject. I could, but I guess the best summary would still be: wow..
Conclusion: The stories are mostly straight stuff, just repackaged and turned a bit upside down to give you a sense of freshness. And that’s where the movie’s strength lies: a simple and refreshing setup combined with excellently and skillfully crafted imagery.
If you love animation then this one’s a sure hit. If you like weird and colorful stories in black & white about our many different fears, same thing. Like Disney’s work?
Bugger off gently to the exit, please.
