Movie: Antonia (Tata Amaral, Brazil , 2006 – 90 ‘ ) imdb link

Date: Jan 26, 2007

Rating: ★★☆☆☆ (not really happening)

Plot: Four young women in the less than effluent parts of Sao Paolo are fighting to make their dream come true and become successful rappers. Everyday life and the struggles that come with it throw up many obstacles.

Cast: Not bad, I kinda automatically switched to telenovela mode after five minutes.

Visuals: Authentic feel, but not much to mention

Conclusion: I kinda hoped this movie would have more.. uhm.. (pretentiousness alert!).. depth to the story. I mean, the friends struggle – friends encounter obstacles – friends break up – friends overcome the obstacles and are friends again storyline has been done a million times. And this edition disappoints by being way too obvious and clichéd.
