IFFR 2006 – “Pusher III”
|
Danish movie, saw Part 2 last year and it was interesting, mostly due to the excellent main character’s tragic stuff. And that’s what you get with this third part: a drug boss/restaurant owner has the day of his life. Balancing the food preparations for his daughter’s 25th birthday with things like his visits to Narcotics Anonymous and his drug deal that goes wrong and keeps getting worse. This guy is on the edge of a cliff and the whole world pushing him to jump.
Bad stuff: not a lot, maybe the gore a little bit.
Good stuff: the director told the audience before the screening that he wrote the script in Danish and scared his financial backers to hell when the end product was shown: all key players are non-Danish – Serbs, Albanians, Polish, Turkish, you name it! A great way to reflect on the multi-culti society, I guess ;o) .
Conclusion: a better movie than the second part, purely because of the even more blunt approach to social commentary.
